


City life in Neu-Ulm started with the change of the sovereignty over the city of Ulm in 1810 from the Kingdom of Bavaria to the Kingdom of Wuerttemberg. The Danube became the boundary between Bavaria and Wuerttemberg. All property on the right side of the Donau = Danube became Bavarian sovereignty. Neu-Ulm started as an independent town. Today it has a population of ~52.000. Nowadays a different kind of canon is shown in one of Neu-Ulm's waterparks ![]() The huge fortification walls were built 1844 - 1857. Strong rains, the yearly melt of snow in the Alps lead to high waters in the Donau = danube. Many rainwater tanks and a dam - producing electricity, were built to keep the citizens of Ulm and Neu-Ulm dry. |
